You have gotten me hooked on Aperol! I tried it as the spritz but as it's just me drinking it I didn't want to commit to a whole bottle of bubbly and just tried it with the two versions on canned Prosecco my local Dan Murphy's had. It was ok, but I do want to try it with something nicer at some stage. But what I have discovered is that I love it with just a couple of shots of Aperol and topped up with soda/mineral water, a lot of ice and a big wedge of orange. It is the perfect summer drink for when I shouldn't be drinking 😜😂.

  2. David Dickerson diyor ki:

I agree, better with the soda. The new bottle I just picked up now says equal parts Aperol and Prosecco. I prefer the 2:3 ratio, maybe they want to sell more product.

  3. Florian Hölbl diyor ki:

In fact that this drink is misused everywhere I decided to make it a little special! I’m from Austria and it’s our thing to drink „Spritzer“! 1/8l soda mixed with 1/8l white wine dry! What the bars do in Austria, is, to add 20 ml aperol to a „spritzer“! That kills both of this drinks, the „Spritzer“ and the aperol Spritz! So I decided to do 125ml of Prosecco, 100ml of soda, 60 ml of aperol, 15 ml of fresh pressed orange juice and 10 ml of freshest pressed lemon juice! Give this a try! And let me know what You think! Kisses

  4. Pierluigi Mastella Manarini diyor ki:

As an Italian from Veneto I can only love this but my favorite one is made with Select instead of Aperol. It's a little hard to find on the market but it's the true original bitter from Venice. Also I prefer my spritz served in a tumbler, olive is fine, real osteria vibes! 😜 Keep up the amazing work! 🙌

  5. Leonardo Olaguibel diyor ki:

Love the format of the videos and the content! Quickly became a follower of this channel. Are we getting some Xmas/Winter cocktails coming up? Cheers!

  6. Tibor Marotta diyor ki:

I say drop the olive(terrible flavour combination with orange, plus you really don't want even a single drop of brine in it) and serve Spritz with a bowl of chips, olives, peanuts or whatever light snack: Aperol and prosecco starts your digestive juices going, that's why it's perfect as an aperitivo. I'm eager to try it with Cava now

  7. Wolfgang Kranek diyor ki:

"The story goes…" Only that the story is nonsense.
From the late 18th century on wine producers were allowed to serve their products tax free to customers directly during a limited time of the year. This was made known by putting a bunch of evergreen boughs over the entrance.
The typical drink is a White Spritz (weißer Spritzer) made with (often annual) wine and soda.
This tradition still can be found in Austria and in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia that former belonged to the Habsburg Empire.
The Aperol Spritz is just a more recent version of the everyday Spritz that was served. Maybe also as a result of the intensified marketing for the Spritz in the last decades.

  8. Mai Nem diyor ki:

Just made myself one of these following your instructions (Aperol was £12 with my Tesco clubcard tonight – so I thought why not? I'll try anything once!)

My glass has 150ml of cava, 100 ml of Aperol and 50ml of soda in it 🙂 [my double jigger is 25m/50ml]

Amazing how the wine is 50% of the drink, but it's the Aperol that dominates (tastes quite a bit like a Negroni) – Aperol is very much like Campari – I'm guessing it could be used as a substitute?

It's a very entertaining drink, not just the taste – but the deep orange colour (yours is paler – probably because I left only enough room for half the ice!)

I would say this is a success – Cheers!

  9. Fred Labosch diyor ki:

    Thanks for the vid!
As the proportions of the ingredients were very much usually by guess and by gosh, now I can finally go and tell my sister 'see, you did it wrong the whole time!' 😉

  10. VooDoo diyor ki:

I use a 120 mils sparkling apple cider instead of the sp-wine and 2 dashes of bitters….my summer go to….the spaz…..with a 30 mls of vodka…..to beef it up

  11. Ochosi Monkey diyor ki:

1:40 I'm from Catalunya, the region where cava comes from, and I'm surprised to hear that it is seen as "cheap" in other places. Here is quite praised, even in other regions of Spain. But again, I was the guy surprised you missed Fanta de limón so much, so… Da hell do I know 😛

  12. Ally diyor ki:

Hi Cara – tried this with Campari, sweet and dry vermouth and Prosecco – really great and the dry vermouth lessens the bitterness – this is my Negroni Spritz!

  13. telegraph_road diyor ki:

In Venice we mostly drink it with select, something in between campari and aperol. If you can get your hands on a bottle try it

  14. The Tribal Bar Guy diyor ki:

Oh yeah8 You can'r go wrong with the Aperol spritz. Fantastic drink and so so good for those hot days when you want to keep the party going but remain hydrated. 😄 Cheers!

  15. Billy Helton diyor ki:

Loved it, awesome video! It is worth waiting a week for! Beautiful drink, looks so refreshing! A rooftop bar, everyone should visit at least once and check it out! See you next week Ms Cara!!!

  16. ChrisC diyor ki:

150 ml a standard wine pour? My first drinking place was a Spanish restaurant in Bayonne, New Jersey, USA, and if you ordered a glass of wine the owner filled it to the brim!

That did, of course, spoil my expectations for every other bar I've ever been in, but it was nice.

  17. Peter TImp diyor ki:

Just found your channel and really like it…..good job. I've noticed you wearing the same thing in two other presentations did you finish all three drinks by yourself?😇 have you put up a clip where you talk about why you moved to Australia/Melbourne (opportunities, etc)? I guess you're still here so you must be enjoying it. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and techniques.

  18. Shawn Miranda diyor ki:

It’s amazing how much effort and research you put into the history of your drink. The fact that you mention what brands go with what cocktail really makes this channel. Listening to your accent and then reading the mismatched auto generated subtitles is just the cherry on the top.

  19. LordBeloved diyor ki:

PSA nobody in Europe drinks Spritz’ with an olive as a garnish😉 (this story has probably been created by Select as they advertise this garnish with their bottles?)

  20. John Olmos diyor ki:

One thing I do is add 1/2 an ounce of fresh Velencia OJ to it. First timers probably don’t like the Bitter so it’s a way I use to mellow it a little

  21. C B diyor ki:

This is my favourite summer drink. It is also known as the Venetian spritz because they like using Aperol. They are best enjoyed right in Venice but anywhere else is great too.
Thanks for posting this. The recipe is on the back label of the bottle.

  22. Gin Tonic diyor ki:

Thank you! This one has been on my list for a while to make! 😀 Btw how is it to be back behind the bar in Bombar? 🙂

  23. Tran Bronstein diyor ki:

I love everything about the Aperol Spritz except for one tiny little thing — the Aperol! 😀 For exactly the reasons you mentioned: it's cheap, sweet, low ABV and less bitter. Blech. It's literally less of everything you pay for in a classic red Italian bitter aperitivo! They just cover up this cheap aperitivo with loads of sugar and orange extract. Does anyone other than me not go "Hrrrrmmm" at this?!? Yeesh. I much prefer to make this with an actual good red Italian bitter aperitivo like Antico Rosso or Campari Cask Tales.

P.S. What kind of alleged bar professional misses the glass right underneath her and pours the ice all over the table? I know you said your arm was out of practice in a previous video but I didn't realize it was that bad! Rehab is in order! I recommend getting the arm back in shape by lifting several cocktail glasses to the lips, emptying the glass down the gullet, refilling, and lifting again. You should do several sets of these on a daily basis. ;D

  24. Tanker 64 diyor ki:

Big fan of the Spanish Cava's. Learned about them when I was in the military in Germany back when dinosaurs ruled the earth. Now you know.
